Axel's take: 7.6/10

Roomy suites and useful freebies, but housekeeping consistency needs work. a budget all-suite chain hotel beside the freeway, scored for what it is.

Comfort Suites University is a budget all-suite chain hotel beside the Marsha Sharp Freeway, convenient by car for Texas Tech and medical visits. We'd consider it for the extra space and included basics: hot breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, helpful staff and breakfast, and their overall ratings remain solid.

The reservation is consistency. Several 2026 Tripadvisor guests describe poorly prepared rooms and maintenance issues; an Expedia-linked review also reports missed vacuuming and bathroom cleaning. These aren't everyone's experience, but they're worth weighing. Pool plans need checking, too: Choice advertises daily access, while Expedia lists the indoor pool and hot tub closed five days a week. We'd skip it if dependable housekeeping or guaranteed swimming is central to the trip.

  • Best for: budget-conscious campus visitors with a car; medical-center visits; travelers wanting extra room space

  • Watch out for: recurring housekeeping lapses; conflicting pool and hot-tub availability; room maintenance and soundproofing complaints

  • Location: Useful freeway access for driving to Texas Tech, Lubbock Christian University and nearby hospitals.

  • Rooms: Spacious open-plan suites with sofa sleepers, microwaves and refrigerators; some guests report wear and thin walls.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive overall ratings, but multiple recent reports show room preparation is inconsistent.

  • Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, though some guests report poor handling of room problems.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking and a gym; confirm indoor pool and hot-tub availability directly.

  • Fees and surprises: Incidental charges apply at check-in; confirm deposit arrangements and bring the matching card and ID for prepaid bookings.
