Axel's take: 6.8/10

A workable budget stop with friendly staff, but uneven upkeep and difficult road access. a no-frills 2-star highway hotel in northeast San Antonio, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star off I-35 is a reasonable short-stay option for drivers visiting Morgan’s Wonderland or northeast San Antonio. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean, spacious rooms, and Tripadvisor feedback also gives the team credit. Free parking and breakfast add practical value, alongside an outdoor pool and gym. We'd consider it for a straightforward overnight stop rather than a hotel-centered vacation.

The trade-off is consistency: the hotel advertises renovated rooms, but guests still describe an aging building, occasional musty smells and uneven housekeeping. Breakfast feedback varies, and there is no elevator. Major I-35 NEX construction is ongoing nearby; guests report awkward access, so check your route before arrival. We'd skip it for a polished stay, a car-free city break, or if stairs are a problem without a confirmed ground-floor room.

• Best for: Budget-conscious road trippers; Short visits to Morgan’s Wonderland; Drivers with northeast-side plans

• Watch out for: I-35 NEX construction complicates access; Uneven upkeep and occasional musty smells; No elevator

• Location: Near Morgan’s Wonderland; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Often praised for space and comfort, but the building still shows its age.

• Cleanliness: Recent praise outweighs complaints, though housekeeping and odor reports remain uneven.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across recent guest feedback.

• Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking, plus an outdoor pool, gym and guest laundry; confirm pool availability.

• Fees and surprises: Early check-in and late checkout can cost extra; nearby highway construction can disrupt arrival.
