Axel's take: 8.2/10

Comfortable stopover hotel, but no longer a walk-to-terminal choice. a full-service 4-star airport hotel beside Lima's old terminal, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star beside Lima's old airport terminal is a strong overnight option if you allow time for transfers. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and a substantial breakfast; the hotel serves it from 4 a.m. A free round-the-clock shuttle runs every 30 minutes, and the restaurant, pool and spa make longer layovers easier.

The crucial catch: this is not the newer Wyndham Grand beside the operating terminal, and you cannot simply walk across to check in for your flight. Recent guests describe traffic-dependent transfers, while the hotel's website warns that Lima and Callao Metro Line 4 construction can add roughly an hour. Some guests also find the corridors dated and the gym limited. We'd choose it for an overnight reset, not a tight connection or a sightseeing base.

• Best for: overnight flight connections; early departures with transfer time; long layovers needing full-service facilities

• Watch out for: Not beside the operating terminal; Metro Line 4 construction delays; Dated corridors and limited gym

• Location: At the old terminal; reaching the operating terminal requires a road transfer.

• Rooms: Guests generally praise comfortable beds and spacious rooms; some connecting rooms transmit noise.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent reviews, especially bedrooms and bathrooms.

• Service: Mostly friendly and helpful, though occasional shuttle communication problems appear.

• Amenities: Early breakfast, 24-hour dining, pool and spa; guests describe the gym as limited.

• Fees and surprises: Shared airport shuttle is free; private transfers, pets and laundry cost extra.
