Axel's take: 9.2/10

Excellent business-class luxury, with sightseeing convenience the main compromise. A five-star business and convention hotel in San Isidro, scored for what it is.

The Westin Lima is a five-star business and convention hotel that delivers unusually consistently on the luxury basics. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, comfortable rooms, meticulous housekeeping and attentive staff; breakfast is another recurring highlight. We'd choose it for San Isidro meetings or a comfortable city stay with an indoor pool, substantial spa and several dining options. The praise is backed by exceptionally strong overall guest ratings, not just a handful of enthusiastic reviews.

The main compromise is location: this is the financial district, not beachfront Miraflores or atmospheric Barranco. We'd skip it if coastal walks and sightseeing straight from the door are your priorities. Check whether breakfast and club access are included before booking; neither should be assumed. For travelers who prefer polished service and extensive facilities over a leisure-focused neighborhood, it's a strong pick.

• Best for: Business and convention travelers; Luxury travelers prioritizing service; Spa and indoor-pool stays

• Watch out for: Away from the coastal sightseeing neighborhoods; Breakfast inclusion depends on your booking; Club lounge access is restricted

• Location: San Isidro's financial district suits meetings better than coastal sightseeing.

• Rooms: Recent guests praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and high-floor city views.

• Cleanliness: A standout strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia, including recent stays.

• Service: Repeated praise for attentive, professional staff and helpful concierge service.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, Heavenly Spa, gym, multiple restaurants and extensive meeting facilities; not a beach resort.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm breakfast and club access; Marriott lists complimentary self-parking, while Expedia shows conflicting parking charges.
