Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong Miraflores luxury pick, with excellent basics and a compact rooftop pool. a modern 5-star hotel on Miraflores’ coastal clifftop, scored for what it is.

Souma is a modern 5-star on Miraflores’ coastal clifftop, and a strong pick for a comfortable Lima stay rather than a sprawling resort experience. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, comfortable beds, helpful staff and the varied breakfast. The walkable setting near the Malecón, Larcomar and restaurants is a major draw. We’d choose an explicitly sea-view room: standard categories can face the city. The rooftop bar adds a good reason to stay in for sunset.

The main compromise is the pool: guests describe it as small, and the hotel lists swimming hours ending at 5 p.m. It’s better for a quick dip than a pool-focused holiday. Some rooms also have partially open bathroom layouts, worth checking before sharing with friends. We’d skip it if generous pool space or a fully enclosed bathroom is essential; otherwise, its strengths comfortably outweigh those limitations.

• Best for: couples exploring Miraflores; travelers prioritizing cleanliness and comfort; ocean-view and rooftop-bar fans

• Watch out for: small pool with a 5 p.m. closing time; partially open bathrooms in some rooms; sea views require the right room category

• Location: Walkable clifftop Miraflores setting near the Malecón, Larcomar and dining.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms; check the view category and bathroom layout carefully.

• Cleanliness: A standout strength across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia guest feedback.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn widespread praise, though isolated service lapses appear.

• Amenities: Compact rooftop pool, three restaurants, Bambu Spa and a 24-hour gym; tennis is at a partner club.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary; breakfast depends on the booking, and pets and early or late room access can cost extra.
