Axel's take: 8.6/10

A dependable Miraflores base with generous rooms and breakfast views, but dated edges. a traditional upscale city hotel in central Miraflores, scored for what it is.

Estelar Miraflores is a traditional upscale city hotel that makes a strong base for exploring Lima. Its central location puts restaurants, Kennedy Park and the coastal promenade within walking reach. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable rooms and breakfast; the city-and-ocean outlook from the 21st-floor restaurant gives that morning meal extra appeal. We'd choose it for practical comfort and location rather than contemporary luxury.

The trade-offs are an older look in some rooms and imperfect soundproofing: recent guests mention traffic noise, while some Tripadvisor reviewers report sound carrying between rooms. The outdoor pool is small, better for a quick dip than a swimming-focused stay. We'd skip it if fresh design, dependable quiet or substantial resort-style facilities are priorities.

• Best for: first-time Lima visitors; couples exploring Miraflores; travelers who prioritize space and breakfast

• Watch out for: traffic and occasional neighboring-room noise; dated décor in some rooms; small outdoor pool

• Location: Central Miraflores, convenient for restaurants, Kennedy Park, Larcomar and coastal walks; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, but some guests find the décor tired and sound insulation insufficient.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent reviews, with strong cleanliness ratings on Expedia and Booking.com.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff attract repeated praise, particularly at reception and breakfast.

• Amenities: Panoramic Piso 21 restaurant, breakfast buffet, small outdoor pool, gym and sauna facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; Expedia lists complimentary self-parking and buffet breakfast.
