Axel's take: 8.6/10

Warm service and spacious rooms outweigh some dated five-star polish. a traditional five-star business and convention hotel in San Isidro, scored for what it is.

Delfines is a traditional five-star business and convention hotel opposite Lima Golf Club in San Isidro. It’s a strong pick for travelers who value space, attentive service and a substantial breakfast over cutting-edge design. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and cleanliness, while Booking.com guests rate comfort particularly highly. Golf-view rooms and the heated outdoor pool add appeal beyond the meeting facilities.

The reservation is about polish rather than the basics: some guests describe dated décor, worn carpets and bathrooms that could use updating. Noise also crops up across booking sites, so request a quiet room rather than assuming every room is peaceful. This is not a beachfront hotel, despite some listings. We’d choose it for business or a comfortable San Isidro base, but skip it for contemporary luxury or a beach-focused stay.

• Best for: business and conference travelers; travelers who prioritize spacious rooms; couples seeking a San Isidro base

• Watch out for: some dated décor and bathroom fittings; noise varies by room; not a beachfront location

• Location: Opposite Lima Golf Club in San Isidro; better suited to a residential-business base than beachfront sightseeing.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable overall; Superior Plus and Executive categories advertise golf views, but some furnishings feel dated.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews, including repeated praise for housekeeping.

• Service: Doormen, concierge and reception receive particularly consistent praise for warmth and helpfulness.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, gym, spa, restaurants and extensive meeting facilities; executive-lounge access depends on room category.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion and transfer charges; Expedia flags a possible VAT charge depending on residency and exemption documentation.
