Axel's take: 7.5/10

Warm service and good food make this a practical Ikeja base, despite uneven upkeep. a locally run 4-star business hotel in Ikeja GRA, scored for what it is.

The Sojourner by Genesis is a locally run 4-star business hotel in Ikeja GRA, better suited to a practical mainland stay than a luxury escape. We'd shortlist it for airport access, welcoming staff and its restaurant. Expedia's February 2026 guests praise clean, comfortable rooms, while Tripadvisor guests also single out attentive service and Nigerian dishes. The outdoor pool and gym round out a useful business-travel setup.

The compromise is inconsistent upkeep: recent accounts mention worn bathrooms, plumbing faults and occasionally slow service. A guest reported Block B renovation noise in August 2025; another described a room facing a noisy construction site in June 2026. Neither establishes whether work continues, so ask before accepting a room. We'd choose it for a short Ikeja work trip, but skip it if polished bathrooms, seamless service or guaranteed daytime quiet are priorities.

• Best for: short business trips in Ikeja; travelers prioritizing airport access; guests who value friendly staff and Nigerian food

• Watch out for: uneven bathroom maintenance; occasionally slow service; reported construction noise; current status unconfirmed

• Location: Ikeja GRA is a practical mainland base with convenient airport access.

• Rooms: Comfortable rooms earn praise, but bathroom wear and plumbing problems recur in guest accounts.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive recent feedback; Expedia rates cleanliness more strongly than overall condition.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a consistent strength, though meals and assistance can be slow.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, restaurant, meeting facilities and free Wi-Fi; Expedia lists buffet breakfast.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is listed as free; airport transfers cost extra. Confirm construction status and breakfast inclusion.
