#7 of 9 hotels in Surulere by Axel's take. Surulere is #6 of 6 places to stay in Lagos, Nigeria. The best hotels in Surulere, ranked · Where to stay in Lagos, Nigeria

Axel's take: 7.0/10

A practical Surulere option, but room upkeep needs checking before you commit. a basic independent 3-star in mainland Lagos, scored for what it is.

Suncity is a basic independent 3-star near Ojuelegba, worth considering for a short stay focused on mainland Lagos rather than resort comforts. Google's 3.7/5 from roughly 350 reviews suggests a broadly satisfactory hotel, while Hotels.ng's smaller sample is more positive. Listings agree on useful basics including a restaurant, bar and parking. We'd shortlist it for location and simplicity, not polish.

Room upkeep is the reservation. Google's review summaries lean negative on rooms and bathrooms, and older Hotels.ng guests describe maintenance and cleaning lapses alongside praise for spacious rooms and helpful staff. Expedia's two poor reviews date to 2018, so they aren't a reliable current verdict. Recent, dated guest evidence is limited, and no official website was verified. Confirm your reservation, request current room photos and check breakfast inclusions; skip it if consistent housekeeping and dependable facilities are non-negotiable.

  • Best for: short mainland Lagos stays; budget-conscious visitors with Surulere plans

  • Watch out for: room and bathroom upkeep concerns; limited recent, dated guest evidence; conflicting breakfast information

  • Location: Karimu Street near Ojuelegba; a practical base for Surulere rather than an island-focused holiday.

  • Rooms: Some older guests praise spacious rooms, but Google's room and bathroom feedback raises upkeep concerns.

  • Cleanliness: Older reviews report cleaning lapses; current consistency could not be established.

  • Service: Mixed evidence: helpful staff receive praise, while older guests describe unresolved problems.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar, Wi-Fi and parking are listed; verify pool or spa availability rather than assuming.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusions conflict across listings; Expedia lists a paid airport shuttle. Confirm booking acceptance directly.
