Axel's take: 7.0/10

Airport convenience and welcoming staff make up for some—but not all—of its age. an older full-service 4-star business hotel in Ikeja, scored for what it is.

Sheraton Lagos is an older, full-service 4-star business hotel in Ikeja: a practical choice for airport access and mainland meetings, rather than a polished luxury stay. We'd consider it for its comfortable beds, outdoor pool and range of restaurants and bars. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the friendly staff, food and security arrangements.

The sticking point is inconsistent upkeep. Expedia and Trip.com guests describe tired rooms, while several Tripadvisor reviewers report damp-smelling corridors, bathroom mould and disruptive noise. Plenty of guests still report clean, comfortable stays, but room condition is too uneven to ignore at this level. Ask for an updated room away from busy public areas, and confirm exactly how many breakfasts your booking includes. We'd skip it if fresh interiors, reliably spotless bathrooms or uninterrupted quiet are priorities.

• Best for: Mainland business travelers; Airport-focused stays; Guests wanting on-site dining and recreation

• Watch out for: Uneven room condition and dated corridors; Recurring dampness and cleanliness complaints; Noise from corridors and outdoor areas

• Location: Useful Ikeja base for airport access and mainland business.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but guests report substantial differences in room condition.

• Cleanliness: Many positive reports, alongside repeated complaints about damp smells, dust and bathroom mould.

• Service: Friendly staff are a recurring strength; front-desk handling is less consistently praised.

• Amenities: Officially lists an outdoor pool, gym, five dining venues, mini golf and free parking.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion varies by booking and guest count; confirm coverage for everyone.
