Axel's take: 6.4/10

A useful Lekki location, but inconsistent upkeep and service make this a cautious choice. A simple 3-star hotel and apartment option in Lekki Phase 1, scored for what it is.

Box Residence is a simple 3-star hotel-and-apartment option whose strongest selling point is its Lekki Phase 1 location. The official site offers standard rooms through larger self-catering apartments, giving it flexibility for different stays. Some guests praise helpful staff and comfortable rooms, but Google's stronger overall rating sits alongside weaker Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback. We'd consider it for a location-first stay, rather than dependable comfort.

The recurring concerns are plumbing, uneven cleanliness, unreliable Wi-Fi and reservation or payment handling, although most detailed accounts are older. Two excellent Expedia ratings in 2026 are encouraging but contain no explanation. Expedia also lists fitness and laundry renovations through January 31, 2027. We'd skip it for a work-critical trip or if you want consistently polished service; confirm your room, payment terms and available facilities before arrival.

• Best for: Location-first Lekki visitors; Travelers seeking self-catering options

• Watch out for: Recurring plumbing and upkeep complaints; Reservation and payment-handling concerns; Fitness and laundry renovations through January 2027

• Location: Lekki Phase 1 base near Nike Art Gallery; near the beach, not beachfront.

• Rooms: Standard rooms, studios and larger apartments; confirm the exact category and kitchen facilities.

• Cleanliness: Mixed feedback: clean-room praise alongside repeated older complaints about odors and bathroom upkeep.

• Service: Helpful staff receive praise, but booking errors and poor complaint handling recur in detailed accounts.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, restaurant and free parking listed; Wi-Fi reliability draws complaints, and there is no elevator.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; confirm deposits, payment methods and renovation-related restrictions in writing.
