Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Ikeja base with welcoming staff, but uneven rooms and no lift. A straightforward 4-star business hotel in Ikeja GRA, scored for what it is.

Amber Residence is a straightforward 4-star business hotel in Ikeja GRA, better suited to a practical stopover than a luxury escape. We'd consider it for airport access, a quieter setting and personable service: staff earn praise across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com. The outdoor pool, restaurant and gym give it useful substance beyond the rooms.

The main trade-off is consistency. Recent guests describe comfortable, clean rooms, and a July 2026 Tripadvisor reviewer mentions a newly renovated room; that does not establish a hotel-wide refurbishment. Other reports flag tired carpets, damp smells or malfunctioning air conditioning, while Wi-Fi problems recur across sources. There is no lift, a more concrete drawback than the broad accessibility listings suggest. Ask for a refreshed room and confirm breakfast coverage. We'd skip it if step-free access or dependable work Wi-Fi is essential.

• Best for: Ikeja business trips; Airport stopovers; Travelers prioritizing friendly service

• Watch out for: No lift; Unreliable Wi-Fi; Variable room condition

• Location: Residential Ikeja GRA setting, convenient for airport-oriented stays rather than island sightseeing.

• Rooms: Comfortable rooms receive praise, but condition varies; request a refreshed room and working AC.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, tempered by some reports of dirty carpets and damp odors.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest strength; check-in can be slow.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, restaurant, bar, gym and free parking; Wi-Fi reliability is a weakness.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm how many guests breakfast covers and any transfer charges; no lift. Official website could not be accessed.
