Hotels in La FortunaA simple, family-run 3-star inn in tropical gardens near La Fortuna
8.5/10
A strong-value garden base for Arenal adventures, with road noise worth planning around.
Arenal Country Inn is a simple, family-run 3-star just outside central La Fortuna, and we'd pick it for a comfortable base rather than resort luxuries. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and well-kept tropical gardens. The outdoor pool, birdlife and included breakfast give it more appeal than a basic overnight stop, while free parking makes it convenient for drivers.
The main compromise is noise: rooms nearer the road can pick up traffic despite the leafy setting. Town is roughly a 10–15-minute walk away, but guests flag traffic and incomplete sidewalks. Some also mention firm beds and compact bathrooms; breakfast earns mostly praise, though not universally. Request a room farther from the road, and skip it if guaranteed quiet or plush accommodation matters most.
