#5 of 9 hotels in Piasek & Nowy Świat by Axel's take. Piasek & Nowy Świat is #3 of 7 places to stay in Krakow. The best hotels in Piasek & Nowy Świat, ranked · Where to stay in Krakow

Axel's take: 9.0/10

A strong city-break choice with refreshed rooms, excellent breakfast and rooftop castle views. a renovated independent 4-star near Wawel Castle, scored for what it is.

Hotel Kossak is an independent 4-star near the Vistula, and we'd put it high on a Krakow city-break shortlist. All 60 rooms were refurbished in 2025, along with the rooftop Cafe Oranżeria restaurant. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds, generous breakfast and genuinely helpful staff. The castle-and-river panorama gives it something extra, while the Main Market Square is roughly 10–15 minutes away on foot.

The main caveat is the busy street setting: one recent Tripadvisor guest flags early tram noise, although an Expedia guest found a road-facing room quiet. Light sleepers should request the quietest available room. Book a castle-view category if the outlook matters; don't assume every room has it. Parking is paid and off-site. We'd skip it if doorstep parking or guaranteed silence is essential.

Best for: couples on a city break; first-time Krakow visitors; travelers who prioritize breakfast and views
Watch out for: possible early tram noise; paid off-site parking; castle views depend on room category
Location: Near the river and Wawel, with the Main Market Square about 10–15 minutes away on foot.
Rooms: Refurbished in 2025; recent guests praise comfort, with dedicated castle-view categories available.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews; Booking.com scores cleanliness 9.5/10.
Service: Repeated praise for friendly staff, excursion help and breakfast bags for early departures.
Amenities: Rooftop restaurant with seasonal terrace, plus a complimentary fitness room and two dry saunas.
Fees and surprises: No hotel-owned parking; a nearby underground garage costs extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
