Hotels in IslamoradaA laid-back waterfront resort with suites, cottages and private villas
7.4/10
Space and sister-resort perks appeal, but upkeep falls short of four-star expectations.
La Siesta is a laid-back waterfront resort, not a polished four-star retreat. Its spacious suites, colorful cottages and private villas suit families and groups, while ocean views and a relaxed atmosphere are the main draw. Hotels.com and Tripadvisor guests praise the setting, helpful staff and activities. Access to sister-resort pools, restaurants and beaches, with shuttle and water-taxi connections, adds real appeal if you use it.
The catch is consistency: several 2025–2026 Tripadvisor guests report missed housekeeping, dirty rooms and unresolved maintenance problems, despite plenty of positive stays elsewhere. Guests also caution that the shoreline is not the sandy swimming beach the photos might suggest. A mandatory nightly resort fee makes the package less attractive for travelers who just want a room. We'd consider it for an activity-filled family break, but skip it for dependable luxury or a beach-first vacation.

Best for: Families wanting extra room; Groups sharing cottages or villas; Travelers using sister-resort activities
Watch out for: Uneven housekeeping and maintenance; Limited swimming appeal at the shoreline; Mandatory nightly resort fee
Location: Oceanfront in Islamorada; the local shuttle helps with restaurants and sister-resort visits.
Rooms: Generous space and varied layouts, but recent guests report inconsistent condition and broken fixtures.
Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, alongside repeated recent complaints about dirty rooms and missed housekeeping.
Service: Individual staff earn warm praise; communication and problem resolution are less dependable.
Amenities: Pool, marina and paddling activities, plus access to sister-resort beaches, pools and fitness centers.
Fees and surprises: Nightly resort fee plus tax and an incidental card hold; dogs and boat slips cost extra.
