Axel's take: 7.9/10

Warm service makes this older Marriott appealing, but renovations complicate the stay. an established five-star business and convention hotel opposite Hussain Sagar Lake, scored for what it is.

This established five-star business hotel opposite Hussain Sagar Lake is a good pick for attentive service rather than cutting-edge luxury. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and generous breakfasts. Comfortable beds, several dining options, an outdoor pool and spa round out the appeal. We'd shortlist it for a city stay where hospitality matters more than fresh interiors.

The main caveat is renovation: owner Viceroy says Marriott room upgrades and convention-centre expansion began in April 2026, with work phased beyond 2026. Confirm affected areas and request a room away from construction. Older decor remains a recurring criticism, and the busy road makes the lakefront less relaxing on foot than the views suggest. We'd skip it for a quiet, polished luxury escape; breakfast and lounge access also depend on your booking.

• Best for: business travelers visiting central Hyderabad; travelers who prioritize attentive service; city breaks with on-site dining

• Watch out for: phased room and convention-centre renovations; dated interiors in older rooms; busy road beside the lake

• Location: Opposite Hussain Sagar Lake, but busy traffic limits relaxed lakefront walking.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and generally good space; older decor persists while upgrades proceed.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback, including Expedia stays through October 2026.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring positive across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, spa, gym and several dining options; confirm availability during renovation.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and valet are complimentary; check breakfast and lounge inclusions and current construction.
