#8 of 9 hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui by Axel's take. Tsim Sha Tsui is #1 of 10 places to stay in Hong Kong. The best hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui, ranked · Where to stay in Hong Kong

Axel's take: 6.7/10

A handy budget base, but room quality and cleanliness remain a gamble. A bare-bones 2-star guesthouse in Mirador Mansion, scored for what it is.

Venetian Hostel is a bare-bones guesthouse inside Mirador Mansion, not a conventional hotel or social backpacker hostel. Its strongest selling point is the Tsim Sha Tsui location, with the MTR, inexpensive food and harbour sights close by. Recent Trip.com guests often praise helpful staff, working air-conditioning and good value; Booking.com’s overall verdict is more restrained. We'd consider it for a short, location-first budget stay.

The trade-off is inconsistency. Rooms are tiny, some lack windows, and guest accounts range from clean and comfortable to stained bedding and poorly maintained bathrooms. Older Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback is substantially worse than recent Trip.com reviews. Reception can also be confusing to locate. Confirm your exact room, window and arrival instructions before booking; we'd skip it if dependable housekeeping, space or straightforward check-in matters most.

  • Best for: Location-first budget travelers; Short stays with light luggage

  • Watch out for: Tiny rooms, some without windows; Uneven cleanliness and maintenance; Confusing reception and arrival arrangements

  • Location: Central Tsim Sha Tsui, very close to the MTR and within walking distance of harbour attractions.

  • Rooms: Very compact; window availability and condition vary, so confirm the specific category.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Trip.com praise contrasts with repeated reports elsewhere of dirty linen and bathrooms.

  • Service: Many guests praise helpful staff, but communication and problem handling receive mixed feedback.

  • Amenities: Expect basics such as air-conditioning and Wi-Fi, not the catalog’s extensive leisure facilities.

  • Fees and surprises: Booking.com lists a refundable cash deposit; Expedia lists a card-payment surcharge and separate reception location.
