Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong Central base with helpful staff, but check the neighboring construction. a limited-service mid-range boutique hotel in Central, scored for what it is.

Butterfly on Wellington is a limited-service mid-range boutique hotel whose strongest amenity is Central itself. We'd pick it for exploring restaurants, SoHo and the Mid-Levels escalators rather than spending afternoons inside. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful reception staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The hotel's entry-level rooms start at about 210 square feet, with larger family options available.

The trade-off is a room-focused stay: there's no restaurant, breakfast service, pool or gym. Neighboring building construction was still mentioned by guests in September 2026; some found nights quiet, but we'd ask about current work and room placement before booking. Corridor noise also gets occasional mentions. It's a strong pick for travelers who spend their days out; we'd skip it for a facilities-led break or if dependable daytime quiet is essential.

• Best for: food-focused city breaks; couples exploring Central; independent business travelers

• Watch out for: neighboring building construction; no breakfast, restaurant, pool or gym; occasional corridor noise

• Location: Restaurants and SoHo nearby; the hotel puts Central MTR and Airport Express access about eight minutes away on foot.

• Rooms: Superior rooms start around 210 square feet; larger executive and family categories offer more space.

• Cleanliness: Recent guests generally describe clean, well-maintained rooms; Booking.com's cleanliness rating is positive rather than exceptional.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are the clearest recurring strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, kettles and a small lobby lounge; no on-site dining or leisure facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm neighboring construction before booking; Expedia says an incidental deposit may be required.
