Axel's take: 9.3/10

Exceptional rooms and personal service make this a standout for quiet luxury. a design-led 5-star boutique hotel above Pacific Place, scored for what it is.

Upper House is a design-led 5-star boutique hotel above Pacific Place, and we'd put it high on the list for travelers who value space and personal service over grand-hotel spectacle. André Fu's restrained interiors still earn enthusiastic praise, with entry-level studios measuring 68 square meters and bathrooms that feel like a substantial part of the experience. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise thoughtful staff, comfortable rooms and the peaceful atmosphere; cleanliness scores are consistently excellent.

The main compromise is the facilities: there is no swimming pool, despite the luxury positioning. You get a 24-hour gym and in-room treatments instead. Admiralty MTR is accessible through the mall, though finding the entrance can initially be confusing. We'd skip it for a pool-centered family break; for couples and design-minded city travelers, it's an exceptional fit.

  • Best for: couples seeking quiet luxury; design-minded city travelers; business travelers who value spacious rooms

  • Watch out for: no swimming pool; entrance can be confusing on first arrival; breakfast inclusion depends on your booking

  • Location: Above Pacific Place in Admiralty, with mall access to the MTR and Hong Kong Park nearby.

  • Rooms: Entry-level studios are 68 square meters, with generous bathrooms; choose the view category carefully.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Trip.com ratings and guest feedback.

  • Service: Recent reviews overwhelmingly praise warm, attentive staff and personalized touches.

  • Amenities: Salisterra dining, a 24-hour gym and in-room treatments; no swimming pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not included in every booking; parking and airport transfers carry additional charges.
