#4 of 9 hotels in Central & Admiralty by Axel's take. Central & Admiralty is #2 of 10 places to stay in Hong Kong. The best hotels in Central & Admiralty, ranked · Where to stay in Hong Kong

Axel's take: 8.7/10

Space, helpful staff and skyline views make the uphill location worth considering. a comfortable 4-star serviced-apartment hotel in Mid-Levels, scored for what it is.

Two MacDonnell Road is a 4-star serviced-apartment hotel that makes a strong case for staying above Central rather than in its busiest streets. Rooms have kitchenettes and dining space, with larger suites suited to settling in. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the housekeeping and helpful staff; Booking.com ratings reinforce those strengths. We'd pick it for longer visits, business trips and travelers who value residential calm over doorstep nightlife.

The main compromise is the hill: walking down to Central is easier than coming back, especially in heat or with children. The complimentary scheduled shuttle helps, but isn't an on-demand service. Several guests also mention chilly rooms or awkward temperature controls. We'd skip it if step-out MTR access matters most; otherwise, this is a comfortable, practical base with appealing city and garden views.

  • Best for: longer stays with light self-catering; business travelers wanting a quieter base; families booking larger suites

  • Watch out for: steep uphill return from Central; shuttle runs to a schedule; some reports of chilly rooms

  • Location: Residential Mid-Levels beside the botanical gardens; convenient for Central, but not a flat walk.

  • Rooms: Functional rooms and larger suites with kitchenettes, dining tables and city or garden outlooks.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and major booking-site ratings.

  • Service: Helpful reception and attentive housekeeping receive repeated praise.

  • Amenities: Café-bar, 24-hour gym, self-service laundry and complimentary scheduled Central shuttle.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and airport transfers cost extra; check whether breakfast is included.
