Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong waterfront choice for helpful service and harbour views, not sprawling rooms. a five-star waterfront business hotel in Wan Chai, scored for what it is.

This five-star waterfront business hotel is a strong pick for convention trips and sightseeing with a harbour backdrop. Direct access to the convention centre, nearby Exhibition Centre MTR and the Star Ferry make getting around straightforward. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and harbour views; breakfast also earns plenty of compliments. The outdoor pool and landscaped podium garden give it more leisure appeal than its business-hotel label suggests.

The main compromise is space: some room categories are compact, and a recent family review describes a rollaway swallowing the usable floor area. Book the view and room category carefully rather than assuming every room delivers the same experience. Breakfast, parking and extra beds can add to the bill. We'd skip it if generous room space is your priority.

• Best for: convention and exhibition visitors; couples booking harbour-view rooms; sightseers using ferries and MTR

• Watch out for: compact rooms in some categories; tight space with a rollaway; breakfast and parking cost extra

• Location: Wan Chai waterfront, directly connected to HKCEC, with Exhibition Centre MTR and Star Ferry nearby.

• Rooms: Choose carefully: views and sizes vary, and some rooms are tight for three.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback across major sites.

• Service: Helpful front-desk and concierge teams attract repeated, specific praise.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool with seasonal heating, landscaped podium garden, 24-hour gym and three restaurants.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking and rollaway beds carry additional charges.
