Axel's take: 7.1/10

A practical budget base, provided you pack light and bring your own towel. A no-frills 3-star hotel with tiny rooms in central Causeway Bay, scored for what it is.

Mini Hotel Causeway Bay is a no-frills 3-star whose strongest feature is its location: shopping, restaurants and the MTR are within walking distance. We'd consider it for a short, budget-minded visit spent mostly out exploring. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests often praise clean rooms and helpful staff, and the hotel supplies the essentials: private bathrooms, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

The compromises go beyond compact dimensions. Standard rooms are around 10 square metres, leaving little luggage space, and bathrooms can feel awkwardly tight. Disposable, paper-like towels draw repeated complaints across sites; bring your own. Housekeeping is limited rather than reliably daily, and service feedback is mixed despite plenty of positive reports. We'd skip it for a longer stay, substantial luggage or any trip where room comfort matters as much as location.

• Best for: Solo travelers on a budget; Short sightseeing stays; Light-packing shoppers

• Watch out for: Tiny rooms and cramped bathrooms; Thin disposable towels; Limited housekeeping

• Location: Central Causeway Bay, close to Times Square, restaurants and MTR access.

• Rooms: Standard doubles and twins are listed around 10 square metres; check whether your category has a window.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, tempered by some recent reports of dust and room wear.

• Service: Many guests praise helpful staff, but unfriendly interactions also recur.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, private bathrooms and in-room safes; no pool or on-site restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Bring a towel and toiletries; confirm housekeeping arrangements and any luggage-storage charges.
