Axel's take: 7.7/10

Good Kowloon value if you can accept dated rooms and a walk to trains. an older, value-focused 4-star on the edge of Mong Kok, scored for what it is.

Metropark Kowloon is an older, value-focused 4-star on the edge of Mong Kok: a practical base rather than a polished retreat. We'd pick it for room space, nearby local restaurants and the free shuttle to Langham Place. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and generally clean, comfortable rooms. The rooftop pool adds appeal for downtime between outings.

The trade-off is age: tired furnishings recur across sites, while some guests report musty smells and maintenance niggles. Those complaints aren't the overall picture, but they matter if you expect a fresh four-star finish. Allow roughly 10–15 minutes to walk to MTR stations, and request housekeeping rather than assuming daily service. Bottled water and disposable toiletries aren't complimentary. We'd skip it for a pampering stay or if doorstep rail access is essential.

• Best for: value-minded city explorers; families wanting more room; travelers comfortable using buses and shuttles

• Watch out for: dated interiors and occasional musty rooms; 10–15-minute walk to MTR stations; housekeeping on request

• Location: Local dining and Mong Kok shopping within reach; the free shuttle helps bridge the walk to trains.

• Rooms: The hotel lists main-house rooms at 19–26 square meters; guests appreciate space but regularly mention dated decor.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive across booking sites, with a minority reporting mustiness or cleaning lapses.

• Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling receives some mixed reports.

• Amenities: Rooftop seasonal pool, gym, restaurants and free Wi-Fi; Expedia lists a January pool closure.

• Fees and surprises: Bottled water and disposable toiletries cost extra; Expedia lists cashless payment and housekeeping on request.
