Axel's take: 9.1/10

Personal service and polished rooms make this a standout city base. a boutique-style 5-star hotel with serviced residences in Causeway Bay, scored for what it is.

Lanson Place is a boutique-style 5-star hotel with serviced residences, and a strong pick for travelers who prefer personal attention to big-hotel spectacle. Reopened after a substantial refurbishment in March 2024, it pairs French-inspired interiors with genuinely useful comforts. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spotless rooms, comfortable beds and staff who handle requests thoughtfully; Booking.com’s strong cleanliness and comfort scores reinforce that picture. Shopping, restaurants and Causeway Bay MTR are close by, while the gym and self-service laundry make longer stays easier.

The trade-off is scale: some guests find their rooms small, so check the layout rather than assuming five-star means sprawling. There’s no swimming pool, and breakfast is not included with every booking. We’d choose it for attentive service and neighborhood convenience, but skip it if a pool and extensive resort-style facilities are essential.

• Best for: couples seeking understated luxury; shopping and dining trips; longer-stay business travelers

• Watch out for: some room categories feel compact; no swimming pool; breakfast inclusion varies

• Location: Walkable Causeway Bay base near shopping, restaurants and the MTR.

• Rooms: Refurbished, comfortable and thoughtfully designed; check category-specific space.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong praise across recent guest reviews.

• Service: Warm, responsive staff are the clearest recurring strength.

• Amenities: Restaurant and bar, fitness centre and 24-hour self-service laundry; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and extra beds can cost extra; confirm inclusions before booking.
