Axel's take: 8.0/10

A practical Kowloon base with helpful staff, but breakfast and station access involve compromises. a no-frills 3-star on the western edge of Mong Kok, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 3-star is a strong pick for travelers who want a straightforward Kowloon base rather than somewhere to linger. Expedia and Booking.com guests generally praise clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff, while recent Tripadvisor feedback also supports its usefulness for short stays. Included breakfast, self-service laundry and basic fitness equipment make the package practical for the price.

The trade-off is its position at the western end of Dundas Street: allow roughly 10 minutes to Mong Kok MTR, rather than expecting a station outside. Breakfast is a simple set-menu affair, and recent guests mention limited variety. Some Tripadvisor reviews also flag bathroom smells or mould, although cleanliness ratings remain broadly positive. We'd skip it if immediate transit access, extensive facilities or a varied breakfast matters most.

• Best for: value-minded couples; short sightseeing stays; independent travelers comfortable walking

• Watch out for: roughly 10-minute walk to Mong Kok MTR; limited breakfast variety; some reports of bathroom smells or mould

• Location: Western edge of Mong Kok; shopping is walkable, but the hotel is not beside an MTR entrance.

• Rooms: Simple, functional rooms generally earn positive comfort feedback; do not expect luxury finishes.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings outweigh a smaller cluster of bathroom mould and odour complaints.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling receives occasional criticism.

• Amenities: Included set breakfast, Wi-Fi, basic fitness equipment and coin laundry; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: IHG specifies breakfast for up to two guests per room; third guests aged 13+ and extra beds incur separate charges.
