Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical Causeway Bay base, stronger on location and staff than room condition. a no-frills mid-range chain hotel beside Times Square, scored for what it is.

This no-frills mid-range chain hotel is a strong pick if shopping, eating and getting around matter more than stylish surroundings. Times Square is next door, with Causeway Bay MTR within walking distance. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the convenient location and helpful staff; rooms generally earn good marks for cleanliness and comfort. We'd choose it as a practical base for days spent exploring, rather than a hotel to linger in.

The trade-off is age: dated furnishings and tired carpets recur in reviews, with some guests also reporting damp rooms. Breakfast is included, but limited choice is a persistent complaint, particularly from guests served fixed sets. There's a basic gym but no pool. We'd skip it if fresh interiors, extensive facilities or a generous breakfast are priorities.

• Best for: shoppers wanting Causeway Bay convenience; sightseers spending most days out; travelers who prefer straightforward chain hotels

• Watch out for: dated furnishings and worn carpets; limited breakfast choice; some reports of damp rooms

• Location: Beside Times Square, within walking distance of Causeway Bay MTR, shops and restaurants.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and functional, but furnishings show their age; some guests report dampness.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive feedback on housekeeping, tempered by recurring complaints about worn or dirty carpets.

• Service: Helpful, friendly reception staff are one of the most consistent strengths across review sites.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free Wi-Fi and a basic 24-hour gym; no pool or on-site parking.

• Fees and surprises: IHG confirms breakfast is included; recent guests report laundry breakdowns, so check availability if essential.
