Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Hung Hom base with harbour views, but some dated edges. a large, traditional 4-star beside Hung Hom station, scored for what it is.

Harbour Plaza Metropolis is a large, traditional 4-star that makes most sense for transport convenience and Hong Kong Coliseum concerts. Its connected mall, nearby Hung Hom MTR and free Tsim Sha Tsui shuttle make getting around straightforward. We'd call it a solid, practical choice rather than a stylish retreat: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests frequently praise the views, helpful staff and generally clean rooms, while the harbour-facing outdoor pool adds genuine appeal.

The trade-off is inconsistent polish. Recent Trip.com guests still describe dated fittings, occasional noisy air-conditioning and variable check-in service; standard rooms can feel compact. Harbour views depend on the room booked, and complimentary bottled water and disposable toiletries aren't something to assume. We'd skip it if fresh interiors or being in the middle of Tsim Sha Tsui's street life matter more than rail access.

• Best for: Hong Kong Coliseum concertgoers; Travelers prioritizing MTR access; Couples booking harbour-view rooms

• Watch out for: Dated fittings and occasional air-conditioning noise; Compact standard rooms; Bottled water and disposable toiletries cost extra

• Location: Excellent for Hung Hom MTR and the Coliseum; a free shuttle serves Tsim Sha Tsui.

• Rooms: Comfortable but unevenly dated; standard rooms can feel compact, and not all have harbour views.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive across sites, with occasional housekeeping lapses rather than a dominant pattern.

• Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise, though check-in speed and warmth vary.

• Amenities: Harbour-facing 25-meter outdoor pool, gym, spa and restaurants; confirm pool availability for winter stays.

• Fees and surprises: Budget for bottled water, disposable toiletries and parking; check whether breakfast is included.
