Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong waterfront pick for space and views, less convincing for seamless luxury. a large five-star waterfront hotel in residential Whampoa, scored for what it is.

Harbour Grand Kowloon is a large five-star waterfront hotel whose strongest assets are space, harbour views and a rooftop pool. It's a strong pick if you prefer promenade walks and local restaurants to staying amid Tsim Sha Tsui's crowds. Booking.com, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise comfortable, spacious rooms and cleanliness; recent Tripadvisor reviews are particularly enthusiastic about the club-lounge staff. Whampoa MTR and nearby ferries make the quieter location practical.

The trade-off is that five-star polish isn't consistent: some guests report disappointing service and rooms that fall short of expectations. Recent reviews also repeatedly flag the lack of complimentary bottled water and disposable dental kits—small omissions that feel stingy at this level. Book a harbour-view category explicitly, and skip it if doorstep nightlife or reliably fuss-free luxury matters more than room space and waterfront scenery.

• Best for: couples prioritizing harbour views; families wanting room space; travelers preferring a quieter neighborhood

• Watch out for: away from Tsim Sha Tsui's main action; uneven five-star service; bottled water and dental kits not complimentary

• Location: Waterfront promenade, local dining and shopping, with Whampoa MTR and Hung Hom ferries nearby.

• Rooms: Space and comfortable beds earn consistent praise; select the view category carefully.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across major sites, despite occasional housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Mostly positive, especially in the club lounge, but less consistently polished elsewhere.

• Amenities: Outdoor rooftop pool, harbour-view gym, spa treatments and restaurants; club access requires an eligible booking.

• Fees and surprises: Guests repeatedly report charges for bottled water and disposable dental kits; parking also costs extra.
