Harbour views and helpful staff outweigh the ageing five-star finish. a traditional five-star harbour-view hotel in North Point, scored for what it is.

Harbour Grand Hong Kong is a traditional five-star in North Point, strongest on harbour views, helpful staff and convenient transport rather than cutting-edge luxury. We'd choose it for a comfortable sightseeing base: Fortress Hill MTR is a short walk away, and Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the service, comfortable rooms and views. Cleanliness feedback is broadly positive across booking sites, while the outdoor pool and high-floor dining add appeal.

The main compromise is condition: dated décor recurs in reviews, and management confirmed ongoing refurbishment, including carpet replacement, in an October 2026 Tripadvisor response. Ask for a refreshed room rather than assuming everything has been updated. Expedia also lists a seasonal swimming-pool closure from December 1 to April 17; confirm dates if swimming matters. We'd skip it if you want consistently contemporary five-star interiors or Central's attractions on your doorstep.

• Best for: couples seeking harbour views; sightseers comfortable using the MTR; travelers prioritizing service over modern décor

• Watch out for: dated interiors; refurbishment ongoing; seasonal outdoor-pool closure; North Point rather than Central

• Location: A short walk to Fortress Hill MTR; convenient island connections rather than a Central address.

• Rooms: Comfort and harbour views draw praise, but décor and carpets vary in condition.

• Cleanliness: Broadly strong guest feedback, with occasional housekeeping and carpet-condition complaints.

• Service: Helpful reception and concierge staff are a consistent strength in recent reviews.

• Amenities: 27-metre outdoor pool, gym, spa and restaurants; Harbour Club lounge access requires an eligible booking.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking can cost extra; disposable dental and shaving items carry a surcharge.
