Strong service and stylish rooms make EAST worth the ride beyond Central. a contemporary 5-star lifestyle hotel on Hong Kong Island’s east side, scored for what it is.

EAST Hong Kong is a contemporary 5-star lifestyle hotel in Taikoo Shing, and a strong pick if you value thoughtful service over formal luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Tai Koo MTR is next door and Cityplaza is connected, making shopping and getting around straightforward. Harbour-facing rooms and Sugar’s rooftop terrace are the standout draws; the outdoor pool and 24-hour gym round things out.

The main compromise is geography: this is not a walk-out-the-door base for Central’s sights and nightlife. Several guests also flag the open, glass-heavy bathroom layouts, so check privacy before sharing with friends or family. The pool closes for annual maintenance in January and February, including January–February 2027. We’d choose EAST for business trips or a less tourist-focused stay, but skip it if central sightseeing or bathroom privacy comes first.

• Best for: business travelers visiting Taikoo Place; couples wanting harbour views; return visitors comfortable using the MTR

• Watch out for: open bathroom layouts limit privacy; outside the main sightseeing districts; pool closed January–February 2027

• Location: Beside Tai Koo MTR and connected to Cityplaza; convenient transport rather than a Central address.

• Rooms: Entry rooms are 28 square metres; harbour views impress, but bathroom privacy needs checking.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong feedback across sites, including recent praise for housekeeping.

• Service: Helpful, attentive staff are the clearest recurring strength in recent reviews.

• Amenities: Sugar rooftop bar, FEAST restaurant, Domain café, outdoor pool and 24-hour gym.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra unless included; no on-site parking; annual winter pool closure.
