Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong Wan Chai base if location matters more than room size. A compact, limited-service business hotel in Wan Chai, marketed as four-star, scored for what it is.

Burlington is a compact business hotel that markets itself as four-star, but its appeal is practical rather than luxurious. We'd pick it for a short Hong Kong stay: Wan Chai MTR, trams, airport buses and plenty of restaurants are close by. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds, while Booking.com ratings also put location and service ahead of facilities.

The main compromise is space. Standard doubles are listed at roughly 11 square metres, so two people with large suitcases should consider a larger category. The Sky Garden offers useful shared space, but this isn't a full-service hotel with extensive dining or leisure facilities. We'd skip it for a spacious family stay; for solo sightseeing or a short work trip, it delivers the essentials well.

• Best for: Solo city explorers; Short business trips; Couples packing light

• Watch out for: Very small entry-level rooms; Limited dining and leisure facilities; Check-in deposit required

• Location: Excellent transport access in lively Wan Chai, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby.

• Rooms: Compact and generally comfortable; standard doubles are approximately 11 square metres.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, although individual housekeeping complaints occur.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are a consistent strength in recent reviews.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and a Sky Garden; expect limited exercise equipment rather than a substantial gym.

• Fees and surprises: A deposit is required; confirm its terms and whether service charge and accommodation tax are included.
