Axel's take: 6.3/10

Friendly staff and practical basics, but room quality is too inconsistent for an easy recommendation. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel south of Hartford, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel in Wethersfield is a workable budget stop, not a dependable all-rounder. Free parking, nearby restaurants and easy I-91 access suit travelers passing through Hartford, while pets stay free. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, and plenty report clean, satisfactory rooms. We'd consider it for a short, practical stay with modest expectations.

The catch is consistency: recent guests also describe cigarette or marijuana smells, uncomfortable bedding, worn finishes and occasional nighttime noise. Cleanliness draws enough mixed feedback that we'd inspect the room before unpacking. Security-conscious travelers should also know that CT Insider reported an armed lobby robbery on July 28, 2026; one incident does not establish an ongoing pattern. We'd skip it if smoke sensitivity, reliable quiet or consistently fresh rooms matter most.

• Best for: budget road-trippers with a car; travelers with pets; short Hartford-area stopovers

• Watch out for: smoke odors and uneven housekeeping; variable bedding comfort and nighttime noise; reported July 2026 lobby robbery

• Location: Near I-91 and walkable dining in Wethersfield; Hartford attractions are a drive away.

• Rooms: Basic exterior-corridor rooms; recent reports vary on condition, bedding comfort and noise.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but recurring odor and housekeeping complaints undermine consistency.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the most consistently praised feature.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and parking, coin laundry and pet-friendly rooms; confirm the officially advertised seasonal pool before relying on it.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a mandatory nightly gas fee and card-only payment; no elevator.
