Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong convention base, with helpful staff and a few practical caveats. a full-service 4-star convention hotel in downtown Hartford, scored for what it is.

Hartford Marriott Downtown is a full-service 4-star convention hotel, and we'd pick it for convenience rather than a special-occasion escape. Its direct connection to the Connecticut Convention Center and position beside the Science Center are real advantages. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms, with October 2026 Expedia reviews reinforcing that picture. River views, an indoor pool and several on-site food and drink options round out a comfortable business base.

The trade-offs are paid parking, breakfast that generally costs extra, and some uneven room upkeep in Tripadvisor feedback. A May 2026 guest reported disruptive internal construction; that does not establish work is ongoing, but Expedia also flags neighboring-building construction noise. Confirm the situation before booking if quiet matters. We'd skip it for a characterful luxury break, but it's a strong choice for conferences and short downtown stays.

• Best for: convention attendees; downtown business travelers; families visiting the Science Center

• Watch out for: parking and breakfast cost extra; confirm construction noise before booking; occasional room-maintenance complaints

• Location: Connected to the convention center, beside the Science Center and close to Front Street dining.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, with river-view options; some guests report bathroom maintenance and bedding issues.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Helpful front-desk, restaurant and bar staff receive repeated praise.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, top-floor gym, spa, restaurant, bar and Starbucks; no airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and most breakfast arrangements cost extra; Marriott guarantees free in-room Wi-Fi for members booking direct.
