Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical overnight stop with welcoming staff, but breakfast and upkeep are basic. A no-frills 2-star roadside motel south of Hartford, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star motel in Rocky Hill, not a downtown Hartford hotel. We'd pick it for a straightforward overnight stop: access to I-91 is easy, parking is free, and restaurants are nearby. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and generally clean, comfortable rooms. Several guests also describe refreshed interiors, though that doesn't mean the whole property feels new.

The compromises are typical of an older roadside motel: dated bathrooms and exterior areas, a very limited included breakfast, and occasional lapses in detailed cleaning. Recent feedback is mostly positive, but enough guests mention bathroom grime or dusty corners to temper expectations. We'd skip it for a polished getaway or substantial breakfast. There is no elevator, so request a ground-floor room if stairs are a problem.

• Best for: Budget-conscious road-trippers; Short Hartford-area visits; Drivers wanting easy highway access

• Watch out for: Very limited breakfast; Uneven bathroom upkeep and detailed cleaning; No elevator

• Location: Near I-91 and dining in Rocky Hill; better suited to drivers than a downtown-focused stay.

• Rooms: Some refreshed interiors, comfortable beds, microwaves and refrigerators; older bathrooms remain a trade-off.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised, with recurring exceptions involving bathroom cleaning and dust.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the most consistent strength across sites.

• Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and basic breakfast; upper floors require stairs.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a per-stay deposit and additional dog fees; confirm pet restrictions before booking.
