Axel's take: 7.8/10

Good practical value, but renovation disruption makes this a conditional pick. a straightforward limited-service hotel across the river from downtown Hartford, scored for what it is.

This straightforward limited-service Hampton is a good-value base for drivers visiting Hartford, rather than a downtown hotel with everything on its doorstep. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and convenient access to the city. Free parking and hot breakfast strengthen the appeal, and recent guests often like the refreshed rooms. We'd consider it for a short business trip or overnight stop.

The catch is renovation disruption: August and September 2026 guests describe construction, plastic sheeting and unfinished details, with no confirmed completion date found. Several also report unreliable hot water. The indoor pool is advertised, but an October 12 Expedia review reports it closed for maintenance; confirm reopening before booking around it. We'd skip it for a pool-focused family break or a stay where daytime quiet is essential until the work is confirmed finished.

• Best for: drivers visiting Hartford; short business trips; overnight road-trip stops

• Watch out for: renovation completion unconfirmed; pool closure reported in October 2026; recurring hot-water complaints

• Location: Near I-84 and Founders Bridge, across the river from central Hartford; convenient with a car.

• Rooms: Refreshed rooms earn praise, though recent guests flag unfinished details and inconsistent hot water.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across sites, despite occasional construction-dust complaints.

• Service: Generally helpful and welcoming, with some recent reports of uneven communication.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and a gym; advertised indoor pool was reported closed in October.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; pets incur a fee, and renovation work has surprised arriving guests.
