Axel's take: 7.5/10

A practical budget stop with good housekeeping, but noise limits its appeal. a no-frills 2-star hotel in Guatemala City's historic center, scored for what it is.

Hotel Capri is a no-frills 2-star in Zona 1, best treated as a practical base rather than somewhere to linger. We'd consider it for a short, budget-minded stay: Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and helpful staff, and the historic-center location suits daytime exploring. Private bathrooms, a restaurant and free Wi-Fi cover the essentials without promising much polish.

The main compromise is sleep: guests describe street noise, early buses and sound from other rooms. Rooms are basic, some guests report no fan or air-conditioning, and upper floors require stairs. Several travelers also express discomfort with the surrounding streets after dark. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or carefree evening wandering; drivers should confirm parking availability because guests describe limited, tight spaces.

• Best for: budget travelers on short stays; daytime historic-center exploring

• Watch out for: street and neighboring-room noise; guest concerns about the area after dark; stairs and limited parking

• Location: Central Zona 1 setting; useful by day, with guest-reported concerns about walking after dark.

• Rooms: Simple private-bathroom rooms; cooling equipment varies, and upper floors have no elevator.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia, including recent reviews.

• Service: Generally helpful and welcoming, although Tripadvisor includes a recent dissenting account.

• Amenities: Restaurant, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; breakfast is listed as available, not necessarily included.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is advertised as free, but spaces are reportedly tight and limited; confirm before arrival.
