Axel's take: 8.5/10

Strong service and comfortable rooms make this an Expo base, despite dated interiors. a large, traditional upscale business hotel near Expo Guadalajara, scored for what it is.

Presidente InterContinental is a large, traditional upscale business hotel opposite Plaza del Sol, convenient for Expo Guadalajara. It's a strong pick if attentive staff, comfortable rooms and a substantial breakfast matter more than contemporary design. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness and service, while recent Tripadvisor feedback also highlights friendly staff. The hotel confirms a heated outdoor pool, gym and two restaurants.

The main compromise is age: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests describe interiors that need updating, so we'd approach this as a dependable upscale hotel rather than a polished luxury stay. Breakfast inclusion depends on your booking, and parking generally costs extra. Choose it for convention trips and shopping convenience; we'd skip it if you want fresh design or to explore Guadalajara's historic center on foot.

• Best for: Expo Guadalajara business trips; travelers who prioritize service; shopping-focused stays

• Watch out for: dated interiors in some rooms; not a historic-center walking base; breakfast and parking may cost extra

• Location: Opposite Plaza del Sol and convenient for Expo; plan transport for historic-center sightseeing.

• Rooms: Comfort earns strong ratings, but recent guests on multiple sites flag aging interiors.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia guest feedback.

• Service: Friendly, attentive staff are among the most reliably praised features.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, gym, two restaurants and room service; IHG lists no airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion and parking charges; pet fees and restrictions differ between listings.
