Axel's take: 7.7/10

Choose Demetria for its design and neighborhood, not consistently polished luxury. an upscale, design-led boutique hotel in Lafayette, scored for what it is.

Demetria is an upscale, design-led boutique hotel in Lafayette, and a good pick if architecture and neighborhood character matter more than flawless luxury service. Its distinctive interiors, rooftop pool and nearby restaurants give it real appeal. Expedia and Booking.com guests praise the comfortable beds and location; recent Expedia reviews also highlight helpful staff and well-appointed rooms.

The trade-off is uneven execution. Several 2026 Tripadvisor reviews describe maintenance problems and disappointing complaint handling, while other recent guests report excellent stays. That makes it hard to recommend as dependable luxury, despite the largely positive overall ratings. Room choice matters too: the hotel's entry-level Tower suites can have inward-facing or no views. We'd choose it for a design-focused city break, but skip it if pristine upkeep and consistently attentive service are non-negotiable.

• Best for: architecture and design enthusiasts; couples on a city break; travelers exploring Lafayette's restaurants

• Watch out for: uneven maintenance and problem handling; some Tower suites have no view; refundable damage deposit

• Location: A strong base for Lafayette and nearby Chapultepec restaurants and bars, rather than the historic center.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise; layouts and views vary, with maintenance complaints in several recent reviews.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, though individual recent Tripadvisor accounts describe housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Many guests praise friendly staff, but recent reports show inconsistent complaint handling.

• Amenities: Rooftop outdoor pool, restaurant, bar, gym and sauna; parking is listed as complimentary.

• Fees and surprises: Booking.com lists a refundable damage deposit; confirm breakfast inclusion and spa charges before arrival.
