Axel's take: 8.7/10

Strong everyday comfort and a well-liked breakfast, but light sleepers should be cautious. a practical mid-range business hotel near Minerva, scored for what it is.

Gumont is a practical mid-range business hotel near Minerva, and a strong pick for travelers who want comfort without luxury extras. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, especially at breakfast. The buffet is a genuine selling point rather than an afterthought, while free valet parking and a gym add useful value.

The main compromise is soundproofing: Tripadvisor and Google reviewers describe traffic and corridor noise, so request a room away from López Mateos and bring earplugs. Wi-Fi also draws complaints across sites; we'd hesitate if dependable video calls are essential. Check breakfast coverage before booking: the hotel promises it for one or two guests depending on the reservation, while Expedia lists a surcharge. We'd choose it for a practical city stay, not guaranteed quiet.

• Best for: business travelers with flexible Wi-Fi needs; couples on short city stays; travelers arriving by car

• Watch out for: traffic and corridor noise; inconsistent Wi-Fi; breakfast inclusion varies by reservation

• Location: On busy López Mateos in Jardines del Bosque, convenient for Minerva and Expo Guadalajara.

• Rooms: Comfortable, modern rooms; sound insulation is the recurring weakness.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia, Tripadvisor and Google guest feedback.

• Service: Generally warm and helpful, with breakfast staff receiving particular praise.

• Amenities: Gym, meeting facilities, business center, free valet parking and a rooftop bar.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm breakfast inclusion and the number of guests covered; Expedia lists it as an optional extra.
