Axel's take: 8.1/10

Strong on design and location, less consistent on practical comforts. an adults-only, design-led 4-star boutique hotel in Lafayette, scored for what it is.

Bellwort is an adults-only, design-led 4-star boutique hotel in Guadalajara’s Lafayette neighborhood. It’s a strong pick for couples who want comfortable beds and restaurants and cafés within walking distance rather than a conventional luxury experience. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the location, cleanliness and helpful staff. The concrete-and-black interiors have character, and the gym and outdoor pool add useful extras.

The trade-off is that style sometimes wins over practicality: recent guests describe dim lighting, limited clothes storage and traffic or restaurant noise. More concerning, several late-2025 and early-2026 reviews report recurring bathroom drain odors, despite the broadly positive cleanliness ratings. The shallow, partly shaded pool suits a dip better than proper swimming. We’d choose it for a neighborhood-focused city break, but skip it if quiet rooms and consistently trouble-free bathrooms are priorities.

• Best for: design-minded couples; restaurant-and-café city breaks; adults traveling without children

• Watch out for: recurring bathroom drain-odor reports; traffic and restaurant noise; dim rooms with limited storage

• Location: Walkable Lafayette base near Chapultepec, with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive minimalist interiors; lighting and clothes storage draw repeated criticism.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, but several recent guests report sewage-like bathroom odors.

• Service: Usually praised as friendly and helpful; problem handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Gym, sun terrace and outdoor pool; guests describe the pool as shallow and partly shaded.

• Fees and surprises: Free parking; Expedia lists a cash breakage deposit and paid airport transfers. Adults only, 18-plus.
