Axel's take: 7.2/10

A practical downtown base, but comfort and service aren't consistently reliable. a traditional mid-range downtown hotel with meeting facilities, scored for what it is.

Aranzazu Centro Historico is a traditional mid-range city hotel, not the polished four-star experience some listings suggest. We'd consider it for a short, sightseeing-focused stay: the cathedral is walkable, transit is close, and there's a restaurant, outdoor pool and gym. Booking.com and Expedia guests often praise comfortable, clean rooms, helpful restaurant staff and the breakfast buffet. Their overall ratings sit just below eight out of ten.

The trade-off is consistency. Recent feedback includes housekeeping lapses, missing towels, maintenance problems and uneven reception service; Tripadvisor's overall verdict is considerably harsher. Noise also crops up. A May 2026 Tripadvisor guest reported the pool unavailable, so confirm access before making it a deciding factor. Parking costs extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on your booking. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or dependable upscale service.

• Best for: sightseeing-focused short stays; travelers attending on-site events; travelers prioritizing a central location

• Watch out for: uneven housekeeping and maintenance; noise and inconsistent reception service; paid parking; confirm pool availability

• Location: Walkable to the cathedral and central sights, with Independencia station close by.

• Rooms: Standard and executive rooms offer air conditioning and free Wi-Fi; maintenance and noise reports vary.

• Cleanliness: Many guests praise clean rooms, but recent reviews also flag inadequate cleaning and missing towels.

• Service: Restaurant staff earn praise; reception and problem handling receive more mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, gym, meeting facilities and outdoor pool; a May 2026 guest reported pool unavailability.

• Fees and surprises: Covered parking is charged separately; check breakfast inclusion and expect a possible incidental deposit.
