Axel's take: 7.5/10
Good family facilities and mountain scenery, tempered by sales pressure and uneven rooms. A sprawling 4-star mountainside timeshare resort with villas and a paid-entry water park, scored for what it is.
Westgate is a sprawling 4-star timeshare resort, not a secluded cabin retreat or polished luxury hotel. It's a good pick for families wanting kitchen-equipped accommodation, pools and plenty to do on-site. Recent Expedia guests frequently praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while Booking.com guests also rate comfort strongly. Westgate opened a new mountaintop lodge in March 2026, but room type matters: some studios have limited daylight, and mountain views aren't guaranteed.
The main drawbacks are recurring timeshare pitches, reported room noise and steep grounds that make the resort shuttle useful. A resort fee applies, and water-park admission generally costs extra unless your package includes it. Wild Bear Falls is scheduled to close January 8, 2027, with reopening planned for March 4, 2027. We'd skip it for quiet, walkable downtown stays or if you dislike sales approaches.
