Axel's take: 7.7/10
A practical Gainesville base with friendly staff, refreshed rooms and some lingering rough edges. A full-service mid-range hotel beside I-75, scored for what it is.
This full-service mid-range DoubleTree beside I-75 is a good pick for UF visits and overnight stops, rather than a luxury stay. Hilton advertises recent renovations, and the management company confirms refreshed rooms and public spaces. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms. Free parking, an outdoor pool and The Comeback sports bar make it a convenient place to unwind, with shopping and restaurants nearby.
The refresh hasn't eliminated every rough edge: recent guests still mention noisy or ineffective air-conditioning, lingering wear and occasional housekeeping lapses. Request a room away from the interstate if traffic noise bothers you. Breakfast costs extra, and campus is a drive rather than a convenient walk. We'd skip it for a polished upscale escape, but it's a sensible short-stay option.
