A strong riverside pick, with spacious renovated rooms and some soundproofing compromises. a renovated, lodge-style 4-star hotel on the Willamette River, scored for what it is.

Valley River Inn is a lodge-style 4-star whose 2024 renovation makes it a strong choice for a comfortable Eugene stay. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the spacious, clean rooms, welcoming staff and Sweet Waters restaurant. We'd favor a river-view room: the water, balconies and direct access to riverside walking and cycling paths are the real draw, rather than the neighboring mall.

The main compromise is soundproofing. Some recent guests describe footsteps overhead and noise between rooms; light sleepers should request the top floor. This isn't a downtown doorstep location, either. Breakfast costs extra, and the hotel lists an 8 a.m. restaurant opening, awkward for early starts. The outdoor pool is seasonal and closed for the autumn/winter period. We'd choose it for riverside downtime, but skip it if downtown walkability or dependable quiet comes first.
