#5 of 5 hotels in Glenwood by Axel's take. Glenwood is #6 of 6 places to stay in Eugene. The best hotels in Glenwood, ranked · Where to stay in Eugene

Axel's take: 6.2/10

Friendly staff and practical basics, but room quality is too inconsistent. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-5, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-5, best considered for a short, budget-minded stop rather than a Eugene getaway. Free parking, free Wi-Fi and pets staying free are useful strengths. Staff are the clearest positive: Expedia guests repeatedly praise their friendliness and problem-solving, while Booking.com also rates service above the rooms and facilities. We'd consider it for an uncomplicated overnight with a dog, provided expectations stay modest.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Recent guests report both clean, comfortable stays and rooms needing deeper cleaning, with recurring complaints about worn beds, maintenance and noise. The outdoor pool is seasonal, not a year-round perk. Local reporting also documented a shooting inside a room on August 13, 2026, involving people known to one another; that incident alone does not establish an ongoing pattern. We'd skip it for light sleepers or anyone prioritizing reliably spotless rooms.

  • Best for: budget road-trippers with a car; travelers bringing pets

  • Watch out for: uneven cleaning and room maintenance; freeway and neighboring-guest noise; documented August 2026 shooting

  • Location: Convenient for I-5 and a short drive to campus; better suited to drivers than walkers.

  • Rooms: Basic exterior-entry rooms; bed comfort and working equipment receive mixed feedback, and there is no elevator.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but repeated recent complaints make consistency a concern.

  • Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are the strongest recurring praise, though some guests report coverage gaps.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and a seasonal outdoor pool; Expedia lists pool operation from July 17 through September 4.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and up to two pets are free; Expedia says an incidental deposit may be required.
