Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong riverside base with standout staff, rather than old-school five-star grandeur. a contemporary five-star riverside hotel in central Dublin, scored for what it is.

The Morrison is a contemporary five-star on the Liffey, now part of Hilton’s Curio Collection rather than DoubleTree. It’s a strong pick for exploring Dublin on foot: Temple Bar is across the river, and Jervis trams are nearby. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise welcoming staff, clean, comfortable rooms and breakfast. We’d choose it for that dependable hospitality and convenient location, not for formal luxury.

The trade-off is that some guests find the experience less special than its five-star positioning suggests. Room categories matter: a river view is not standard, even with every suite. Parking costs extra in a nearby public garage. Hospitality Ireland reports that the multi-year refurbishment finished in 2026, including the event spaces. Skip it if you want traditional grandeur; book it for a relaxed, well-run city stay.

• Best for: first-time Dublin visitors; couples on a city break; business travelers extending their stay

• Watch out for: river views require the right room category; paid parking in a nearby public garage; contemporary comfort rather than grand-hotel luxury

• Location: Central Liffey-side address, across from Temple Bar and minutes from Jervis Luas.

• Rooms: Generally praised as modern and comfortable; river-view rooms and suites are separate categories.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com category scores and recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Warm, helpful reception and concierge staff attract repeated praise.

• Amenities: Morrison Grill, Quay 14 bar, fitness center, free Wi-Fi and room service.

• Fees and surprises: Nearby Jervis parking is chargeable, without in/out privileges; major refurbishment reported complete in 2026.
