Axel's take: 8.4/10

Comfortable rooms and helpful staff make this a strong sightseeing base, with some location trade-offs. a practical 4-star city hotel on Dublin’s north side, scored for what it is.

Maldron Parnell Square is a practical 4-star city hotel rather than a luxury escape, and it delivers well on the essentials. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; larger family rooms are a particular strength. Breakfast generally earns good reports, too. We'd pick it for a straightforward Dublin break with O’Connell Street and public transport nearby.

The setting is less polished than the hotel itself, and Temple Bar is roughly a 20-minute walk away. Some guests mention street noise, so request a quieter room if sleep is a priority. The nearby Parnell Square Cultural Quarter’s new City Library construction is another reason to check current disturbance before booking. There’s no gym or on-site parking. Skip it if you want luxury facilities or nightlife immediately outside.

• Best for: families needing larger rooms; sightseers happy to walk; travelers who prioritize comfort over luxury

• Watch out for: street noise in some rooms; nearby City Library construction; no gym or on-site parking

• Location: Near O’Connell Street and Luas links; roughly 20 minutes on foot to Temple Bar, with mixed opinions on the immediate surroundings.

• Rooms: Comfortable, air-conditioned rooms; family and triple configurations draw particularly positive feedback.

• Cleanliness: Consistently praised across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, despite occasional complaints about problem handling.

• Amenities: Grain & Grill restaurant and bar, breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi; no on-site gym or spa.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast depends on your booking; paid parking is off-site, and nearby City Library works warrant checking for disturbance.
