#4 of 8 hotels in Des Moines Airport by Axel's take. Des Moines Airport is #5 of 5 places to stay in Des Moines. The best hotels in Des Moines Airport, ranked · Where to stay in Des Moines

Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical airport stop where helpful staff outweigh aging rooms. a no-frills airport chain hotel, scored for what it is.

This no-frills airport hotel is a good pick for a night before or after flying, rather than a Des Moines vacation base. Its strongest assets are straightforward: a free airport shuttle, included hot breakfast and staff whom recent Expedia and Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, and the airport-facing location makes travel days easier.

The building is showing its age. Tripadvisor guests describe tired bedding and small bathrooms, while recent Expedia reviews also acknowledge the need for updates; bed comfort gets mixed reports. The outdoor pool is seasonal, not an indoor, year-round amenity, and free parking excludes long-term airport parking. We'd choose it for convenience and friendly service, but skip it if fresh interiors or consistently comfortable bedding are priorities.

Best for: early departures and late arrivals; short airport stopovers; travelers wanting breakfast and a shuttle included
Watch out for: aging rooms and mixed bedding comfort; seasonal outdoor pool only; long-term parking costs extra
Location: Across from the airport; downtown is roughly a 10-minute drive, not a walkable sightseeing base.
Rooms: Functional but aging, with small bathrooms and mixed reports on mattresses and pillows.
Cleanliness: Mostly praised in recent verified reviews; isolated complaints do not dominate the overall picture.
Service: Friendly, accommodating staff and convenient shuttle service are recurring strengths.
Amenities: Included hot breakfast, WiFi, airport shuttle, fitness center and seasonal outdoor pool.
Fees and surprises: Stay parking is complimentary; long-term parking and pets incur charges.
