#8 of 8 hotels in Des Moines Airport by Axel's take. Des Moines Airport is #5 of 5 places to stay in Des Moines. The best hotels in Des Moines Airport, ranked · Where to stay in Des Moines

Axel's take: 6.7/10

Useful for an airport overnight, but upkeep and noise make it a compromise. a budget-minded 3-star airport hotel with event space, scored for what it is.

This budget-minded 3-star Clarion is a practical airport stop rather than a hotel we'd choose for a longer break. The free airport shuttle is its strongest selling point, backed by repeated praise for friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast and an indoor pool add convenience. Guest ratings vary considerably across sites, but the overall picture is mixed: perfectly satisfactory short stays sit alongside recurring maintenance complaints.

Choice calls the hotel newly renovated, yet 2026 guests on Expedia and Hotels.com still describe worn rooms, broken fittings and uneven housekeeping. Noise is another meaningful drawback, including reports of loud music from events—not ideal before an early flight. We'd consider it for a straightforward overnight if airport access matters most; light sleepers and travelers expecting consistently fresh, well-maintained rooms should look elsewhere.

  • Best for: budget-conscious airport travelers; short overnight stays

  • Watch out for: event music and hallway noise; uneven room upkeep and housekeeping; extra charges for extended airport parking

  • Location: A short drive from the airport; more useful for flights than a walkable city stay.

  • Rooms: Some guests find rooms spacious and comfortable; others report worn finishes and broken fittings.

  • Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, but recurring housekeeping and common-area complaints undermine consistency.

  • Service: Friendly staff and convenient airport transfers are the most consistent positives.

  • Amenities: Breakfast, indoor pool, restaurant and fitness center are listed; pool-condition feedback varies.

  • Fees and surprises: Overnight self-parking is free; extended parking, pets and early or late checkout can cost extra.
