Axel's take

a renovated 4-star downtown business hotel

8.2/10

A comfortable downtown base with strong staff, but irritating extra fees.

The Westin Denver Downtown is a renovated 4-star business hotel that makes a strong base for exploring Denver on foot. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and convenient location near Larimer Square, Union Station and Coors Field. Rooms generally earn good marks for space and comfort, while the rooftop pool and remodeled gym give it more appeal than a purely functional conference hotel.

The main drawback is fee transparency rather than the accommodation itself. Recent guests on both sites describe unexpected destination charges or confusion over the associated credits. Parking also costs extra, so arriving without a car makes sense here. We'd choose it for a comfortable city break or work trip, but skip it if straightforward, extras-free pricing is a priority.

Best for

  • business and conference travelers
  • car-free downtown weekends
  • baseball fans visiting Coors Field

Watch out for

  • daily destination fee and credit restrictions
  • paid self-parking and valet
Location
Walkable downtown setting near Larimer Square, Union Station and restaurants.
Rooms
Renovated, generally spacious rooms; comfort earns broadly positive feedback.
Cleanliness
A consistent strength across Expedia and Booking.com guest feedback.
Service
Friendly, helpful staff receive repeated praise, including for resolving room issues.
Amenities
Rooftop pool, remodeled gym with Peloton equipment, restaurant and coffee bar.
Fees and surprises
Daily destination fee; confirm credit rules, parking charges and Wi-Fi eligibility before booking.
